MISSISSIPPI MUD
When we were just kids we’d go down to the river
We’d let the other kids newspaper deliver
Jump off the railroad bridge or be a chicken liver
Doin’ gainers off them girders and can-openers all summer
Once you got that Mississippi mud between your toes
That's all she wrote no matter where you go
That stuff doesn’t come off it even stains your clothes

Swam the channel to the island rope-swing paradise
In the winter, we walked across the ice, fell through twice and got baptized
One time I cut my foot “Hey, I’m bleeding, I am!”
Must’ve been a piece of glass or a pretty sharp clam
It was somewhat deep out along the wing dam
But, it didn’t get infected rinsed by that muddy sand

Another cool aspect of writing the songs you sing, you can always re-write and improve lyrics and musical changes. Learning a lot from the studio/CD experience, some major re-writes have occurred for all the right reasons. Plus, mastering the subtle art of playing slide guitar, with all the available tones from different guitars, with or without amplifiers, has made new songs out of previously tried and true arrangements, as well as pulling some of my best ever brand new songs out of the one great consciousness...
